Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

In the future, it’s estimated that 50 billion devices will be connected to the Internet.  Come learn the basics of sensors, data hubs, and data streaming in this hands on learning experience. This lab is designed to introduce the basics of IoT.  It uses a rapid prototyping platform, the Raspberry Pi, breadboards and simple cheap sensors alongside production ready libraries and cloud resources.  In this session, we’ll focus on:

·      Device Setup:  You will begin by installing an operating system on your Raspberry Pi.  You will then bridge an internet connection from your computer to the Raspberry Pi and configure it to connect to the cloud.

·      Hardware Prototyping:  You will be wiring 2 analog sensors to a Raspberry Pi using an Analog Digital Converter and learn some basic concepts for embedded systems.

·      Data Streaming:  You will provision cloud based resources for the device to stream data to as well as deploy a code base to the device that will stream data from the sensors to your provisioned cloud resources.

This session is perfect for anyone in technology, developers, makers, or tinkerers.  No background experience is needed but bring your imagination and your laptop (Windows preferred).

Also, be sure to check out our Tuesday session, Hands on IoT:  Building IoT Cloud Services … Visualization, Analysis, Analytics,” where we will introduce Data Streaming, Data Visualization, and Predictive Analytics in the cloud, using Microsoft Azure services.

Presented by Microsoft (www.microsoft.com).

============February 7th Update============

Location:  University of Tampa, Lowth Entrepreneurship Center, 820 West North A. Street, 8th Floor, Tampa, FL 33606.

We’re happy that the class is so popular and we are at capacity, but we do want as many people to attend as possible.  The room we have will accommodate additional class members, so please come and participate, even if you are on the waiting list.  Keep in mind that we have enough instructors to handle 35 students, so for those on the waiting list, our instructors will most likely not have the capacity to get outside of the 35 that have signed up.  However, there will be lot’s to learn just by coming and observing the class, so we invite everyone to come.  The Monday night session will be using a IoT materials kit, and we will have a limited supply of those, so preference will go to those who are registered for the class.

Windows and Macs Laptops (Windows preferred):
Please make sure that you bring your laptops and that you are ready to learn.  Monday night will be working with the Raspberry Pi devices to build an IoT sensor hub.  This will utilize some software and tools that are Windows based, so it is best to bring your Windows laptop.  On Tuesday night, most of the work will be done using the Microsoft Azure services, which are cloud based and can be done using a Windows or Mac device.
