Javier Marin

Javier Marin is one of the Assistant Directors at the Florida Small Business Development Centers at the University of South Florida. He holds an AAS in Business Administration from Middlesex County College and a BAS in Public Administration from Polk State College. His education also includes attending Stockholm University in Sweden in business related courses, as well as the rigorous Management Training Programs at Chase and Business Banking at SunTrust. He has also earned credentials as a Certified Business analyst and Certified Global Business Professional.

Javier invested a combined 22 years in banking and held the positions of CEO of the DNJSA Federal Credit Union, Manager at Chase Bank and Vice-President at SunTrust Bank. He provided services to companies with sales under $5MM, including commercial mortgages and business loans/ lines for equipment, debt restructuring and working capital. In his current position, he helps business owners navigate the SBA loan application process with different lenders.

Javier was Mayor of the Town of Dover, NJ for one term (2004-2005) and also has extensive experience with non-profit organizations, which helped him get an understanding of the private, public, and non-profit sectors. He has been a guest speaker, panelist and/or workshop facilitator with several organizations. He has earned hands-on, in-depth knowledge in business growth, finance, business lending, mortgages, HR, strategic planning, and business reorganization. He is also fluent in Spanish and Swedish.
